It will be one of the very few hardcovers I read for which I remove the dustjacket while reading. But, it is still pretty friggin' cool.

@Mooderino - Well, that's encouraging!

@wordsandpeace - I preordered it weeks ago, so the library didn't cross my mind. And I'm encouraged to hear you're enjoying it. Hope it stays enjoyable for all 944 pages!

@Man - Twilight: Well, I suppose there's a reason that one didn't spring immediately to mind. ;) Thanks for the other ones, too - hadn't read any of them, but they are good calls.

@Anonymous - Good one - thanks.

@Rebecca - My God, up is down, east is west. What's next, the Reading Ape commenting about Snooki's new novel? Totally kidding....

@Madeleine - Another ringing endorsement for 1Q84 - can't wait to read it. My copy finally did arrive on Saturday. I'm finishing up 1984 and then diving in!Greg Zimmermanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08122230426442946518noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5060047013304842896.post-10470349394089781452011-10-30T21:37:09.022-05:002011-10-30T21:37:09.022-05:00I started to read 1Q84 on my Kindle, otherwise it ...I started to read 1Q84 on my Kindle, otherwise it is such a heavy book it would be difficult to bring with me in my purse.
I am on page 145 ( on kindle there is no page so I have to figure the % which amounts to 145p) I absolutely love it, can't put it down. From searching other blogs who are reading this novel, many have switched to Nook or Kindle even so they bought the book.
Hope you will like it once you receive it :)Madeleinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14624058636860716664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5060047013304842896.post-65661410225406857432011-10-30T09:45:23.401-05:002011-10-30T09:45:23.401-05:00I don't recall if it's Phoenix for sure, a...I don't recall if it's Phoenix for sure, and I'm so embarrassed that I'm about to put this on the internet, but I'm pretty sure that the big climax scene in Twilight when Edward saves Bella from a rampaging vamp in a ballet studio is in Arizona somewhere....Rebecca @ The Book Lady's Bloghttp://www.thebookladysblog.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5060047013304842896.post-51527032203752079692011-10-28T19:25:07.830-05:002011-10-28T19:25:07.830-05:00The only book I've read set in Phoenix is &quo...The only book I've read set in Phoenix is "Waiting to Exhale" by Terry McMillan.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5060047013304842896.post-83131655719072171492011-10-28T16:56:26.993-05:002011-10-28T16:56:26.993-05:00I started 1Q84, I'm about 50 pages in and so f...I started 1Q84, I'm about 50 pages in and so far it's a great book.

Books which feature Phoenix...there is always Twilight, let me know how it is :)

But, just in case you read Twilight already there are also The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver (I think it was her first - not sure though), Waiting to Exhale by Terry McMillan and The Blessing Way by Tony Hillerman.

Have fun in AZ.

http://www.ManOfLaBook.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5060047013304842896.post-60408615303286796942011-10-28T16:10:33.278-05:002011-10-28T16:10:33.278-05:00Have you ever considered your public library? It reads fast, faster than some other Murakami novels for me, even the descriptions. Lots of things focusing on faces. cool images here and there. I like the same "un-reality" seeps in little by little in the real world of Aomame and Tengo. My only fear is that a major translation contract I got today will not allow me enough hours to keep reading it.
