This has me hopeful that maybe it is worth the effort after all. For me - well, I was one of those people who read the first few chapters, tired of it, and placed it down. My reason is this: it felt really self serious, really joyless, etc. I'm not saying it was, because I have an admittedly small sample size, but that was the impression I received. And I don't want to spend 1000 pages with something that doesn't have a good dosage of humour. That's what sets off the darkness & density of Infinite Jest, yes? Anyway, that was my thought on the matter. I'm glad you enjoyed, though, sir.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5060047013304842896.post-76031405931048274532016-02-11T12:18:06.249-06:002016-02-11T12:18:06.249-06:00This is one I was so excited about at first, but a...This is one I was so excited about at first, but as the lukewarm reviews started to pour in, I almost convinced myself to skip it. After your review I'm thinking I'll go ahead and put it on hold at the library.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
